Ode to Garden Tomato
You are ripe and sweet and completely delicious.
In the morning, afternoon or evening, a treat.
I have enjoyed your goodness daily.
But alas, the signs of fall are upon us, and this morning
a glimmering sparkle covered the ground.
How glad I am that I picked some of you last night.
Thank you for taking part in my summer.
You are wonderfully perfect.
I will savor each remaining bite.
Until next summer, farewell.

I do love tomatoes. We actually had a bundle of ripe ones when we returned from our trip in August. However, wouldn't you know that tomatoes did not "sound good." So I missed out on Eliot's incredibly expensive, home grown tomatoes... maybe next year. Love the poem!
